Problem:

In today's era of digital transformation, and especially during the Corona pandemic, there has been an increase in email fraud attempts, particularly CxO fraud. In these attempts, fraudsters impersonate executives to deceive employees, aiming to cause financial or data-related harm.

Cause:

Fraudsters often use email addresses that closely resemble the genuine addresses of executives to deceive employees. For instance, they might use an email address containing the first name and surname of a real employee but originating from an external domain.

Solution:

With the deHOSTED Exchange NoSpamProxy CxO, companies can ensure that no emails from external addresses containing the first names and surnames of their own employees are sent to their service. These emails are automatically rejected. However, it's crucial to note that activating this feature will also reject any emails from other email servers that the company might operate elsewhere and with different domains if there's a name match. Therefore, it's recommended to activate this feature only for specific employees who are genuinely at risk of such attacks or belong to the company's leadership or decision-making circle. It's vital for companies to activate this feature judiciously and inform their employees about the importance of protection against such fraud attempts.
